No problem at all with space between crash bars and radiator side panels on my 2018 Vitpilen.

Thomas replied to the topic What tires are you running? in the forum Vitpilen 701 General Discussion 5 months ago
I have the S22’s front and back. Have had no complaints until yesterday when I had a close call on track. Was accelerating moderately under rather heavy leaning out of a slow hairpin when I lost grip on both tires. Managed to save the bike but the confidence in the grip was gone and I had to take the speed down several notches the rest of the day.…[Read more]

Will get my crash cage delivered tomorrow. When installing, did you need to lift or support the engine in any way when removing the engine bracket screw? Or is it only to unscrew and insert the new one?
Thanx!

+1 on the looks. The sound isn’t bad either based on the audio clips on their website. I cannot convince myself to like the looks of the Akra or LV’s… Would be nice to read an opinion from someone with real-life experience of this exhaust!

Will the fuse box open once the crash bars are installed or do you need to remove them to access the fuses?

The Husky bar ends are definitely less blurry than the originals. There are still some vibrations at some rpms but much better than before.

Thomas replied to the topic Cat delete, adjust fueling? in the forum Vitpilen 701 Technical Forum 2 years, 1 month ago
I might very well be misinformed, but I’ve read in another forum full of people that seemed to know a lot about engines – or at least they used a lot of difficult words ๐ – that the O2 sensor only adjust fuel trim on idle and on low revs. So on mid/high revs the O2 sensor won’t help, and you risk damaging the engine. The conclusion there was that…[Read more]

Old thread, but anyhow….
Brandon – did you remove the DB killer from the stock exhaust as well and compared with the Akrapovic without DB killer? I like the looks of the stock exhaust better and can’t really decide if I want to keep the stock and try to remove the DB killer or if I should get the Akra slip on. Seems easier to remove the DB…[Read more]

Thomas started the topic Octane in the forum Vitpilen 701 Technical Forum 2 years, 3 months ago
Has anyone tried higher octane rating than the recommended ROZ 95/RON 95/PON 91? If so, where there any positive effects on performance or gas mileage? Or any downsides other than the higher price?
I had a car before (turbocharged) that ran significantly better on 98 compared to 95. Smoother, reacted quicker, and consumed less fuel.

Thomas replied to the topic Performance ECU in the forum Vitpilen 701 Technical Forum 2 years, 3 months ago
I notice that Coober states significantly lower performance figures than Husqvarna’s claimed 75 hp and 72 Nm of torque. Cycle World’s dyno test (https://www.cycleworld.com/2018-husqvarna-vitpilen-701-dyno#page-2) came much closer to the claimed figures. Anyone with a logical explanation as to why two different dyno tests can differ this much?

Thomas replied to the topic Chain tension in the forum Svartpilen 401 Technical Forum 2 years, 4 months ago
I too was wondering how to interprete the instructions for chain tension measurement in the manual for my Vitpilen 701 – total play or clearence to the swingarm. Ended up checking the manual for the Duke 690 which clearly explained that it is clearence to the swingarm that should be measured. Should be the same on the Husky…

Thomas replied to the topic So whatโs the actual redline in the forum Vitpilen 701 Technical Forum 2 years, 4 months ago
ichbinbier – Yep, saw that in the 701 manual as well. However, it doesn’t say what the max recommended rpm is.
It only says that during the running-in phase, the rpm should not exceed 6,000 during the first 1,000 km and 7,800 after the first 1,000 km. But it doesn’t say how long the running-in phase is considered to be and if 7,800 is the maximum…[Read more]

Thomas replied to the topic Problems With My Vitpilen 701 in the forum Vitpilen 701 General Discussion 2 years, 4 months ago
1800 km (about 1100 miles) on mine. Have seen the TC failure light flashing once while cruising at steady pace down a straight, and today ABS can failure flashed while riding in rain. Almost every time a switch the engine off, the info display says “TC failure”. Once in a while a get “kill switch” instead. Had no stored error codes at my first…[Read more]

Thomas replied to the topic So whatโs the actual redline in the forum Vitpilen 701 Technical Forum 2 years, 4 months ago
My Vitpilen 701 starts blinking red at around 8 000 after the first service. Tested another Vitpilen 701 (with more mileage) at an event with Husqvarna which started blinking closer to 10 000. Could it be that the running-in period is considered to continue past the first service and the redline is set at a higher rpm at a later service interval?

Following with interest! Had a chance to test ride a Vitpilen 701 with Akrapovic slip-on (with DB killer) at an event. The sound was in my opinion a tiny bit better than my stock muffler, but not worth the $850. The Husqvarna representative promised a much better sound with the DB killer removed. Considering the little difference between stock and…[Read more]

Thomas replied to the topic Bar end mirrors recommendations in the forum Vitpilen 701 Parts & Accessories 2 years, 5 months ago
Thanks for input. I agree that it looks better facing down. But as most miles on the bike are done commuting I’ll probably go for safety and place them upwards. But I reckon it isn’t too much of a hassle to try both options ๐

I have ordered the husky bar end mirrors for my 701 and am waiting for the delivery. There are cheaper options, but I like the looks of the husky ones. Any recommendations on how to mount them – up or down from the bar? Pro’s & con’s, anyone? Looks, visibility, etc. ๐
