    Hello

I am about to buy new motorcycle.

I tought about the SM701 and than I saw the Vitpilen.

It is very nice, but if the engine is the same, why not to buy the SM701 which will be the same on the hughway, but better inside the city ?

    Thanks a lot

P.S. Any reason not to buy husqvarna ?

Although the same engine, two vastly different bikes.

SM is a supermoto (duh), and the Vitpilen is a lovely naked sportsbike with a little café flair.

Want to draw attention? Get the SM701
Want a beautifully styled naked that’s a dream to ride in the twisties? Get the Vit 701

    My two cents

Your answer is mostly about outside look

I am more interesting in the riding expirience of someone who road on both.

I road on the Vitpilen and I understood what it is all about.

Didn’t ride on the SM cause the dealer here doesn’t have one for demonstration

Maybe I had to open the question in an SM701 forum, to understand how it behavie in high speed!!!

I got the impression that the Vitpilen can be at 160-170 kph for very long time/roads, without headshakes and other issues.

Do you agree with that statement ?

Does anybody know something about the SM701, regarding this issue of riding in high speed for long time ?

    Thanks a lot

Yep, agree, the Vit 701 can do day long 160kmph without any head shakes.

At least the rider is much more of a parachute on the SM701…

I don’t think this engine is the best to be at 160kph for long periods.  It will do it, sure, but I think a twin would be a better choice.  But, if it HAS to be either the SM or the Vit, I think the Vit is better.  Just my 02 cents.

I think you need to ride both, they are such different bikes even though they have the same engine. The Vit is a styling forward sport bike and the SM is a dirt bike with road tires. Handling and ergonomics are completely different. It depends what you plan on doing with the bike.

Best of both worlds, get a Svartpilen. Has the Vit handling and the SM seating position

@SvartGuy depends on what your other bike is. 😉
