Hi guys, wondering if anyone has come across the following:

Clutch was slipping at high rpm. The bikes done 7000 miles.

The bike was taken apart and a couple of the clutch plates had isolated patches of wear on them. Most of the clutch was in really good condition.

I don’t keep my bike in gear at lights, and barely use it because of the quick shifter.

Any ideas as to the cause?

    Cheers

It could be an oil problem. Either contaminated oil or low oil maybe. Also I do remember an issue with some KTM’s where the clutches wore out quickly because an oil jet inside the clutch casing either got clogged or was faulty and the clutch plates got starved of oil. Rekluse make special clutch friction plates (called Torque Drive) which circulate the oil better. I have them on my Harley and they work well. It might also be a weak/faulty clutch spring which is causing the slipping.

Thanks Vanessa, some things to think about. Think you may be right about the clutch spring as the version number had been updated since buying the bike!
