I just did it with the fairings on. If you go really smooth you shouldn’t have a problem. Fairing is really soft and makes it really easy to drill without applying force.

I used a wood drill bit that literally cut the plastic.

It dodntd came with a template. I had to build the myself.

Push a piece of paper know the pads. So the 2 nipples in the pads go tthrough. Then cut border with scissors. And voila. Template done. Put this with tape to tank fairings and drilled.

    Scytaleus,

Perfect idea, I have been stumped on how to drill.

    Brilliant.

I would also like to understand how to remove the tank fairings. I see that Husqvarna now sells a set of tank fairings with an alternate paint scheme, which means that it must be possible to do. So far, I’ve managed to remove all the bolts I can find (aside from the black ones around the fuel filler cap) and I’ve removed the neon yellow “bulkhead” between the seat and tank. Any additional guidance would be super helpful! Also, if anyone has purchased the alternate fairings, please upload the included instructions sheet as it seems to be non-existent anywhere online.
