I’m sure there will come a time when I want to replace the brake fluid… what brake fluid spec should I use? The front brake reservoir has “DOT 3 OR 4” printed on it. The rear reservoir only says “DOT 4” on it. The manual calls for “DOT 4 OR DOT 5.1.” I assume I default to DOT 4… but the inconsistency confuses me.

All three are compatible and can be mixed. The biger numbers can handle higher temperatures.  If you are going to use dot5.1 read the bottle make sure its dot5.1 and not dot5.   Dot5 is silicone based and will not mix with dot3 4 or5.1
