Well, they’re supposed to check everything listed under 620 mile service on pages 107 through 110 of the owner’s manual. If you tell them not to bother checking the valve clearances, that would save quite a bit of labor charges. My valves were fine, but I wanted them to go by the book. I knew checking the valves on the KTM 390 was a bitch because I read about that in Motorcyclist magazine. So I was prepared for the worst. The tech told me it wasn’t all that bad, though.
